Raffia rope and used tarpaulin 230 cm 2023

The intersecting text BAYAR BAYAR and forming a + sign is created from the appropriation and reversal of the meaning of the BAYER symbol. BAYER is a multinational company engaged in the dominant production of agricultural chemicals, in 2018 the seed provider Monsanto also bought it, meaning that the unification and concentration will create a form of monopoly on agricultural patterns and planting culture on another global scale that is more massive and integral.

From these observations, and by comparing what happens in the surrounding farms, I found a pattern of production and consumption that is directly proportional, a dependency. Dependent on seeds and pesticides produced by large companies and minimal independence, meaning that in production farmers spend too much. Because of this, I chose to change the word BAYER to BAYAR, more or less this is a representation of the feelings of small farmers who continue to pay and pay so that their narrow land continues to produce. The work is made from used tarpaulin and embroidered with raffia rope. These materials were chosen because they were considered close to the narrative related to post-harvest activities, such as tarpaulin which is usually used as a drying mat that is flexible and temporary in the use of space, as well as raffia rope which is light but tough, of course without fur.
