Readymade plastic sacks and ropes 120 x 145 cm 2019

The idea of creating this work emerged from cognitive activity in the semantic realm in the context of language philosophy. The main text in this work is “MAKAN MAKNA” which for me is both a poem and an essay. The message of this work is not singular. I only show some of the paradoxical realities that are taking place in today’s contemporary global village, without intending to make a judgment. For me, the phenomena of reason-mental, material-immaterial migration, global-local, biogeography, psychogeography, rural-urban, food, agriculture, politics, culture, ecology, are things that are intertwined with each other.
I chose the media based on my socio-economic experience as an artist-farmer. In everyday reality, used sacks are used as containers for harvesting agricultural products, fertilizers, soil, etc. Raffia rope is usually used for sewing when the sacks are filled. The illustrated sacks were chosen with the aim of constructing a picture of corn farming, and a banner for a Lamongan penyetan stall. The text MAKAN MAKNA was deliberately made from raffia rope with embroidery, its shape resembling the logo of a popular band, to describe the phenomenon of global-local narrative migration in symbolic language.
